Privacy Policy
What we collect, what other players can see, and how to change or delete it. Effective November 6, 2026.
The short version
- Your email address and real name are private. Other players see your display name, never your email.
- Game results are public. Your display name, scores, rating, record and milestones can be seen by anyone who visits the site, including people who aren't logged in.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling. We only use cookies needed to sign you in and keep forms secure.
- You're in control. Edit your profile any time, and contact us to delete your account.
This summary is for convenience. The full policy below is what applies.
Who we are
Pickleball Log Lite (the "site") is run by the organizers of Pickleball Log Lite ("we", "us"). It helps groups of players generate matches, record scores and track ratings. This policy explains how we handle information about you when you use the site.
Questions? See Contact us.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Email address: to sign you in, confirm your account and send password-reset links.
- Password: stored only as a secure one-way hash. We can't see it.
- Display name: the name other players see.
- First and last name (optional).
- Gender (optional, "prefer not to say" is the default): used only to build men's, women's and mixed doubles.
- Skill level (optional): used to set your starting rating.
- Where you play (optional): your country and state or province, used to show you on the Where we play page and to filter the rankings by place. We don't ask for your city, address or precise location.
- Your agreement: the date and time you accepted the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy, and which version you accepted.
- Your email settings: whether you want score emails and session recap emails.
When you play
- The sessions you create or play in, your teams, opponents, courts, rounds, sit-outs and substitutions.
- Scores, and a history of who entered, confirmed, edited or disputed each one and when, including any note added to a dispute. Keep dispute notes factual: they're shown on the session page while the dispute is open.
- Your rating, rating history, win/loss record and milestones, calculated from confirmed games.
- Games you record, including the date and optional note.
Guests added by other players
Players can add someone who doesn't have an account as a guest so they can be put into a game. A guest record holds a display name, an optional gender, their games and rating, and which player added them. Guest names are public in the same way as account holders' display names. See Guests and claiming.
Technical information
- Cookies needed to keep you signed in and protect forms. See Cookies.
- IP address: used briefly, in memory, to limit repeated sign-in, sign-up and password-reset attempts. We don't store it in our database.
- Server logs: our hosting provider may keep standard logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
We don't collect payment information, precise location, contacts or anything from your device beyond what your browser sends with each request.
How we use it
- To run the site: create and sign in to your account, build sessions, show scores, standings, ratings, rankings, win chances and milestones.
- To keep results honest: confirm scores with the other side, keep an edit history, and flag unusual activity for admins to review.
- To send account emails: confirmation, password reset, email-change and similar messages.
- To send score emails: a reminder when a score for one of your games is waiting for you to confirm, and an alert when someone disputes a score you entered or one in a session you organized. You can turn these off in Account settings → Notifications. We don't send marketing email.
- To send session recaps: after a session you played in is finished, one email with your record and rating change, the final standings and the night's highlights (which name other players, just like the session page). You can turn these off separately in Account settings → Notifications.
- To keep the site secure and working: prevent abuse, enforce daily limits and fix problems.
- To show group-wide statistics on the home page, such as total games played, which don't single anyone out except in the top-rated list and recent milestones.
- To show statistics by place, such as how many players are in each country or state and their average rating. The top-rated player in each place is named.
What other people can see
Pickleball Log Lite is a shared scorebook, so much of it is visible to anyone who visits the site, signed in or not:
| Public | Private |
|---|---|
|
|
If you'd rather not be identifiable, choose a display name that isn't your real name and leave gender unset. Site administrators can see account details (including email addresses) to support users and keep results accurate.
Guests and claiming
- Only add someone as a guest if they're happy to be listed. Use a first name or nickname if you're unsure.
- A guest can take over their record by creating an account through a one-time claim link (valid for 14 days). Their games and rating move to their account.
- If you were added as a guest and want your name changed or removed, contact us or ask the player who added you.
How long we keep it
- Account details: while your account exists.
- Game records: indefinitely, because every game is also part of other players' history and ratings.
- Password-reset and confirmation links: expire after 2 days. Claim links: 14 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself in Account settings → Your data (or contact us). That deletes your login, including your email address, password and settings. Your games stay so other players' records and ratings remain correct. You choose whether they stay under your display name or are anonymized as "Former player N", with your real name, gender and skill level removed.
Security
Passwords are hashed, the site is served over HTTPS, accounts lock for a few minutes after repeated failed sign-ins, and sign-in and sign-up attempts are rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Your choices and rights
- Update your display name, names, gender, skill level, email address, password and email settings any time in Account settings.
- Download a copy of the information we hold about you as a file, from Account settings → Your data.
- Delete your account there too, or ask us to correct anything.
- Dispute a score you think is wrong, right on the session or Record a game page.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have further rights, such as objecting to processing or complaining to a data-protection authority. We'll respond to requests within 30 days.
Children
You must be at least 13 to create an account. We don't knowingly collect information from children under that age. If you add a younger player as a guest, use a first name or nickname only and get a parent's okay. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top, and signed-in players will be asked to review and accept the new version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
